Honolulu – The Retail Merchants of Hawaii (RMH) Board of Directors welcome a new Chairman and Vice Chairman for the 2015-2016 Fiscal Year. Chairman Michael Tam is the owner and CEO of Martin & MacArthur, the premiere Koa Furniture maker and retailer in Hawaii for over 50 years. Vice Chairman Scott Maroney is the Senior Vice President of Crazy Shirts, a popular Hawaii-based t-shirt and clothing company established in 1964. They join Secretary/Treasurer Jennifer Erwin of PacRim Marketing Group. Tam replaces Mark Storfer of Hilo Hattie, whose term ended in June. The Vice Chair position was vacant.
“Both Michael and Scott have a tremendous amount of retail experience,” said RMH President Sheri Sakamoto. “They are a great leadership team and the Board and I look forward to working with them on some exciting new initiatives.”
Under Tam’s leadership, Martin & MacArthur has become the leading innovator with Koa, introducing the world’s first Koa watches, Koa sunglasses, Koa iPhone and iPad covers and most recently the only Koa-leather handbag line made in Hawaii.
Over the past 20 years, Maroney has built his retail career from the ground up, starting as a part-time customer service representative for Van Heusen Corporation in Southern California to his current position as Crazy Shirts’ Senior Vice President for the past three years.
